Preparing for your appointment

All About The Curly Cut...
So if you've arrived here, you will know by now that a curly cut is a completely different experience to the standard wet cut. Cutting the hair dry, in its natural curl pattern allows for a much better shape and is more considered to the finished length with no hidden surprises. Here's how it works....
When You Book Online
Firstly, please feel free to book your appointment directly using the online booking system (except for colour), no need to contact me in advance. I am unable to offer separate consultations due to capacity but a curl assessment is done thoroughly at the start of your appointment. If you are visiting for the first time please let me know in the text box prompt on the final part of the booking page a bit about your hair and what you are aiming to achieve (it's ok if you're not sure). There are different services available so please ensure you book the right slot so we have enough time to fully dry and finish your hair.
The Service Guide gives a good steer as to which curly cut to book.

At The Start
We will begin with a curl analysis and full consultation, and then start the haircut. Here's where we will discuss all things curly. We'll talk products, hydration, managing wash days, refreshing and product application. You will not leave without knowing what we did and how we did it! If you have booked an in salon treatment this takes place after the haircut.
My appointments are quite hands on if you are new to embracing your curls and I will get you to apply some product to make sure you understand the right amount and also walk you through diffuse drying.

Preparation - IMPORTANT!
Whether you wash your hair the night before or on the day, please ensure your hair is 100% dry on arrival with no band marks so I can see your natural curl pattern. If the hair is knotty, it's not going to be pleasant and it's better to come with the fluff and frizz rather than hard cast curls. Please do not arrive with hair that is a week old! It's really hard to cut hair that has oil build up and the result will not be as good as it can be!
If you have an inspo photo, save it to your favourites as a photo paints a thousand words! Bear in mind to choose styles that are similar to your own hair in terms or curl pattern and density. Not sure? That's OK too! Check out my instagram grid where you'll find my portfolio of work.

At The End
Once the hair is fully dry, I'll assess the shape again then complete a refining cut to finish your hair. I'll give you some homecare advice on how to maintain your curls at home.
I am an Official Boucleme Stockist so recommend this brand but there is never any pressure to buy. I think the products speak for themselves though and you can enjoy 10% buying one product and 15% purchasing two products. I often have clients popping in to buy products as you'll find my Boucleme priced very competitively.

Final Note...
Over the years, many of my curly clients have experienced a traumatic haircut that has not allowed for shrinkage, spring and cohesive layering. This came onto my radar six years ago (you don't know what you don't know) and I found myself enlightened and excited by dry cutting and completely taught myself as no curly courses existed in the UK. I am passionate about turning round how the hair industry treats curly clients which have been neglected for decades and am about to embark on rolling out curly education training for salons to spread the curly love!
There is no judgement in my salon. If you've been cutting your hair yourself because of the worry of someone cutting too much off or maybe have left it 2,3,4 years since your last cut, that's OK! it's more common than you think. I pride myself on listening to what YOU want. I'll be honest in my view but will always strive to give you what you are looking to achieve.
And yes...I'm NOT curly myself but having styled 100s and 100s of different heads of curl patterns, lengths and density, be assured you are in very safe competent hands.
