At last! Spring has sprung and it could not have come sooner! I've been enjoying getting back in the garden tending to dormant plants and watching shrubs come out of hibernation. We have welcomed a banditry of Blue Tits and Robins who are seem to be fighting for space in the trees and hedges!

New tweaks to the booking system
The new client list was paused for a few weeks as I needed to make some adjustments to the way the current system operates, ensuring you can get an appointment without waiting too long. Here are the new changes:-
Regular clients can now book one appointment in the salon at the end of their appointment, if desired.
The online booking system will now operate on a three-month rolling basis and each month will open up on the 01st of each month at 7pm.
The waitlist can be used if you are unable to get the appointment you require. To access this, use the booking system as normal and you will see a "Join waitlist' link.
Unfortunately I am no longer able to offer the mini children's curly cut, the maintenance curly cut and colouring for any new clients due to capacity.
One Shampoo or Two?
How many times do you shampoo your hair? Do you often wonder why sometimes its once and other times twice! Well, the first shampoo binds the oil, sweat and current build up together before removing it and the second shampoo does the true cleansing because it's now not competing with anything for it's attention, so it can remove the yeast and bacteria and know that your scalp has around 1 million bacteria per square centimetre!! So remember wash once for clean hair and twice for a clean scalp!
A range of shampoos available from the salon.
Tips for Wavy Hair
There is a minefield of information online coming from many curl influencers but its important to remember that everyone's hair type is different including porosity, density alongside curl types. Wavy hair can be tricky to manage because you need to show it who is boss but also treat it with kids gloves! The main rule is to not use too much product as it will weigh the hair down.
You can start by skipping the conditioner part of your wash routine if the hair isn't knotty or in need of a deep cleanse. Opt for a leave in conditioner instead which is lighter and uses smaller molecules and lower concentrates so it won't overload the hair. Leave in's also penetrate the hair a bit more without being greasy.

Next you are looking for a foam which can give a brilliant result and I absolutely love the Boucleme Volumising Foam (£22, 200mls). If you need a bit more hold, adding the Boucleme Super Hold Gel (£22, 200mls) should do the trick but do not apply too much and make sure the hair is quite wet before applying. Finally when it comes to diffuse drying, look to hover dry thus not disturbing the hair until its at least 50% dry, then you can start to cup the hair in the diffuse bowl to increase the spring of the curls knowing the hair has set and won't frizz.
Finally don't forget to gentle squeeze the hair to break any crunchy hard casts!
Book Review
I've just finished Alice Feeney's Beautiful Ugly. This is the second book I've read by the Feeney and it did not disappoint. It tells the tale of an Author whose wife mysteriously disappears one evening and 12 months later, he travels to a remote scottish island to try to restart his writing career after a tumultuous 12 months of losing his wife and life. Only all is not as it seems on the island and the remote close knit community are rather strange indeed. Will the past finally catch up with him?! An easy read, keeping you guessing to the very end!
Out of Office....
I have a Milestone Birthday in May (eek) so will be out of the salon from May 20-June 6th and for the summer holidays, I will be also be away at the end of July for the summer 2 week holiday with the family. August diary opens 01st May at 7pm.
That's its for now. Do let me know if you'd like me to include any particular hair tips in the next newsletter.
